This aerial photo of the 2009 Orio Chowder was taken by Ken Wood and used with permission of the Daily Republican Register. Wabash Presbyterian Church is to the left, surrounded by the Orio (Wabash Presbyterian Church) Cemetery. Across the road to the right is the 10-acre hickory grove, where the Chowder has been held since it began.

Since 1920 the Orio community together with Wabash Presbyterian Church have set aside the Saturday of Labor Day weekend for this gathering featuring food, games, and getting-together. About 1200 gallons of chowder are made and sold that day. This is reunion time for some folks who return from far places to see extended family and old friends.

Plan to spend the day at the Chowder. Proceeds from the event go first to support the Orio Cemetery, and then to the mission outreach of the church.
